The fifth annual IMG7v7 Southeast Regional Championship concluded at IMG Academy on Sunday, March 13, and Jacksonville, Florida-based Pro Impact won its second title in three years. Most impressively, the team scarcely broke their stride at any point, going a perfect 9-0 on the weekend, en route to cementing their place in the IMG7v7 National Championship. In the final, Pro Impact knocked off Virginia-based Perfect Performance.
Pro Impact is known for its “No Fly Zone” secondary, but QB Mac Jones (Bolles School), a Kentucky commit, lit up opposing defenses all weekend. Jones was on-point, connecting on one deep-ball after another, making it virtually impossible for the opposition to ever catch up.
Defensively, the Pro Impact secondary left no room to get open. On that side of the ball, the team features an elite lineup that includes Ohio State commit Shaun Wade (Trinity Christian HS), Richard LeCounte (Liberty County HS (GA)), Ahman Ross (Bolles School) and Quran Hafiz (Sandalwood HS).
The event featured nearly 25 elite club 7v7 teams from Florida, Virginia and Minnesota and New Jersey. However, only four would earn an invite to participate in the National Championship. Earing invites were Pro Impact (FL), Perfect Performance (NJ), Next Level Greats (NJ) and Marion County Stars (FL).
With the conclusion of the Southeast Regional, there are still 15 events left on the National 7v7 Football Association schedule. From coast to coast, many more teams will be competing for a spot in the National Championship. For the full calendar of events, check out the schedule at NFA7v7.com, HERE.
Past winners of the IMG7v7 Southeast Regional are: South Florida Express (2012-13, 2015) and Pro Impact (2014, 2016).
